Sivan Askayo

ABIBOO Architecture finds a powerful approach to Photography in Sivan’s work. The images we propose here provide a reinterpretation of the city with the eyes of an intense conceptual mind. With just a single photo Ms Askayo is able to recollect the multiple layers associated with the complexity of today’s megacities. The work presented here is intense and soft at the same time, providing a inspiring approach to the society of the New Century.

Sivan Askayo (b.1975) is a photographer based in New York City and Tel Aviv. Her work explores the complexity of today’s social dynamics and its interaction with urban art. Whether it is street graffiti, commercial billboards, architecture and windows reflections, they all come together, to what Sivan calls “Urbangraphy”.

Sivan is currently actively involved with ICP, International Center of Photography in New York. She earned a BA in Communication and Advertising from the New School of Media in Israel and a MA in Communication and Marketing from NYIT in New York.

She has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is involved with emerging artists groups both in New York and in Tel Aviv. Among the most representative are:
* solo exhibition in 2009 at Hulon Theater, Israel titled ‘Next Stop: Manhattan’ * selected group exhibition during 2009 at Rogue Space Gallery, New York titled ‘Chelsea Young Artists Group show’
