Educational Center PJDM. Talavera, Spain
This project, located in the historical town of Talavera de la Reina (Toledo), consists of the renovation of an old historic building from the mid 20th Century as an Educational Center for adults. The program includes student rooms, language lab, computer rooms, laboratory, library, offices for management personnel, education center for the local Board and archives.
This is a low-budget project of 35,000 sq.ft. (3.000 m2) distributed on two storeys of the old building and extends into the preexisting internal patio. This extension is visible from the patio as an expressive mural that poses a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional ceramics of Talavera by means of a new eco-efficient façade that reflects the sun light over the mural and protects windows from direct sun exposure.
